The 5th Anniversary Annual General Meeting of the EBC (now IBC) was held on June 4-5, 2002 in Budapest, Hungary at the invitation of MOL Hungarian Oil and Gas. More than 200 representatives of EBC member-companies and special guests took part in the event dedicated to: “Russia in a Changing Europe”.
In 2002 the EBC President Dr. Rem Vyakhirev announced his resignation from his position after five years term. Dr. Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Management Committee of Gazprom, was elected as new EBC President.
One of the Congress’s tasks is to develop effective cooperation with international organizations promoting the development of the world economy. In 2002, the EBC Board and representatives of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) met at headquarters of the Congress in Berlin to discuss further cooperation.
During the meeting the parties also discussed preparation and organizational issues of the UN-ECE seminar on “Policy and Regulatory Options to Promote Industrial Restructuring in the UN-ECE Region” (28 October 2002, Geneva).
