IBC International Round Table “IT Transformation in the oil and gas sector. Enabling skilled employees to adjust to a new environment”

On 12 October, a Roundtable of the International Business Congress was held in St. Petersburg. The topic of the meeting was “IT Transformation in the oil and gas sector. Enabling skilled employees to adjust to a new environment”. The meeting was chaired by A. Medvedev, Chairman of the IBC, E. Kasyan and N. Kislenko, Heads of Departments of PJSC Gazprom. Kasyan and N.A. Kislenko, Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Slovenia, President of Comita Group of Companies D. Durakovic.

The event was attended by representatives of 42 companies from 12 countries: Azerbaijan, Belarus, Vietnam, Egypt, Germany, Indonesia, Netherlands, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Uzbekistan, Turkey. Experts from leading oil and gas companies, IT sector and profiled universities shared their experience of functioning under the conditions of digital transformation. Representatives of companies from Russia, Azerbaijan, Slovenia and Turkey had an opportunity to present their expert reports.

The first part of the roundtable, dedicated to IT transformation in the oil and gas sector, was opened by N. Kislenko, Head of the Department of PJSC Gazprom. In his report he identified the reorganization and optimization of business structures as a necessary step following the introduction of digital technologies into production. He spoke about the possibilities of introducing the cutting-edge innovations in the industry, such as working with digital twins and data processing with the help of artificial intelligence.

E. Gengrinovitch, Advisor to the General Director of Infotecs, presented Cyberpolygon as a method of training cyber security specialists. E. Ukhova, Partner of B1 Company, spoke about trends in the labour market related to digital transformation. K. Slanov from Comita Digital Technologies and T. Denzer from DT Cloud spoke in the video conference format. They shared their experience in implementing and operating technologies in the corporate environment.

The second part of the session covered the topic "Enabling skilled employees to adjust to a new environment". The discussion was opened by J. Klementovichus, Director of the Higher School of Economics of St. Petersburg State University of Economics. She presented the results of a study of key competences and strategies for digital transformation of energy companies.

N. Allahverdiyeva, Head of the Department of Baku School of Oil, shared Azerbaijan's experience in using new technologies to train oil and gas industry specialists. V. Borodin, General Director of Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk, spoke about the digital transformation of personnel training and presented the Digital Institute 4.0 project and the Museum of History and Achievements of the company.

A. Belousov, Head of the Security Department of Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, and L. Potapov, Head of the Information Technology Department of the Corporate University of Gazprom Neft, also spoke about their experience in organizing personnel training and retraining in the context of the ongoing digital transformation of the industry.

A. Boeldt, IBC Board Coordinator, concluded the meeting by highlighting activities of the congress in 2023 and presenting a plan for the reorganization of the Congress in 2024.

Closing the meeting, IBC Head of the Board A. Medvedev invited all IBC members to participate in a written vote at the 26th Extraordinary General Meeting from 17 to 27 October 2023.
